The Black Cab Sessions

A best ideas are often the most simple ones. The Black Cab Sessions are proof of that. The raw acustic sound recorded and filmed for an Internet audience in the back of a black cab plays out just as well to the backdrop of London as to the British countryside. And it doesn't hurt that they got some pretty big hitters in the music world into the cab, such as Death Cab for Cutie, The Kooks and My Morning Jacket.

Lykke Li and the Evolution of Swedish Pop

Lykke Li is one of the new up-and-coming acts on the Swedish indie music scene that is getting a lot of buzz. In the video above she performs an acoustic live version of her song 'I'm Good, I'm Gone' with some contemporary artist guests: Robyn, Adam & Bebban (Shout Out Louds), Daniel (The Concretes), Lars (Laakso) and Mikael (Hjalmar). Director: Ted Malmros + Christian Haag. My friend John at the Swedish indie label Hybris told me that Lykke is his Nr. 1 pick from the Swedish music scene right now. I still dig Peter, Björn and John. BTW it is funny how Robyn has been able to transform herself as a bubble gum mainstream pop act to an indie star - with much of the same material!

Great New Artists On Kanye West's Label

Lots of good things are happening around Kanye West's label G.O.O.D Music (getting out our dreams). Check out Consequence's music video "The Good, the Bad, The Ugly," featuring Kanye West (above) and Taz Arnold's (from Sa-Ra - picture) Obama video "Vote Obama" made in support of democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

Kanye West, Jay Z, Chris Brown, Travis Barker, Shepard Fairey, and Apple of The Black Eyed Peas are among some of the celebrities, artists, and tastemakers that make a cameo.
