Will Shepard Fairey Design the OCCUPATION Movement?

LA-based street artist Shepard Fairey has designed the official poster for tonight's OCCUPATION PARTY in NYC's Times Square (above). Maybe he will also be the artist who creates an official image for the OCCUPATION movement, which is increasingly gaining popularity across the nation? He certainly has the right credentials. Specialized in "worldwide propaganda delivery," Fairey is perhaps most famous for designing the defining poster for the Obama-campaign, but has a ton of other ironic propaganda poster well worth checking out on his website. Scarlett Johansson Naked and Miles the Cat

Two of the latest examples of creative street artists worth noticing include Xvala (he also does those zonked out monkeys that say "Google my wiki"), with this "Fear Google" poster on the abandoned Hollywood Video on Wilshire Blvd window, and an unknown artist's take on a missing cat posting. Latte Art and Russian baristas

Latte Art is a style of pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso that creates a pattern or design on the surface of the resulting latte. It can also be created or embellished by simply “drawing” in the top layer of foam, according to Wikipedia. Latte art is growing in popularity and now even Russian baristas can show their skills at pouring milk in a creative way, making designs on the tops of coffee drinks.

Spending Time With Poster Boy

Poster Boy is a New York City based street artist. By using a razor, Poster Boy slices up advertisements in the subway to create completely original works of art. You can find pictures of his work here. This is an analog version of online mash-ups for the masses. The advertisers who get their ads cut up are probably upset (which is why Poster Boy has to remain anonymous). However, think about it - isn't he really adding value by making every poster he remixes into an original piece of art? Poster Boy is doing on the street what Andy Warhol did for Campbell's soup in the galleries. If I was an advertiser, I would pay him to cut up my ads and put them on display in a gallery. I bet that show would get lots of PR and goodwill in the artist community and beyond. Keep your friends close and your enermies even closer...
